🌈 Why We March — Why We Still Must
More than fifty years ago, Pride began not as a parade, but as a protest.
In the summer of 1969, after yet another brutal police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City, the LGBTQ+ community stood up and said: No more. What followed wasn’t just resistance — it was resilience.
It was drag queens, trans women of colour, gay teens, lesbians, allies, and countless others refusing to stay silent. It was the birth of a movement that shouted “We exist. We matter. We will not hide.”Today, Pride is filled with joy, glitter, dancing, and celebration. But that joy was hard-won. And it must never be taken for granted.
Because still today, in far too many places, being LGBTQ+ means being afraid. Being targeted. Being othered. That’s why Pride2025 exists.
Not just to celebrate how far we’ve come — but to stand firm for how far we still need to go. To support the fighters. To honour the fallen. To protect the next generation. You, reading this now — you are part of that legacy. You are part of that fight. And you are part of that future.
Keep going. Keep showing up. Keep being proud.
Because Pride isn’t just a month. It’s a movement.#Pride2025 #WhyWeStillMarch #LGBTQHistory #PrideWithPurpose
